The design task is Challenging and straightforward: renovating a two-story basement under a public plaza into a co-working office.

Our design objectives include easing the sense of oppression and enclosure by bringing in natural light and visual connection with the public to the basement, enhancing the liveliness of the existing plaza by creating intimate public spaces with the landscape, and more importantly, giving the office an identity of its own.

We adopt the aeroponic technology for the plantation. Above ground, it provides shades and intimacy for plaza visitors. Underground the equipment, together with the sculptural roots, is adapted into a piece of installation art which may well serve as the office's identity.
